How to play Skirk

For an accessible on-field route, prepare support abilities, use Skirk’s tap Skill and attack in repeatable five-hit strings with dash cancels. Use the Skill-state Burst for its attack buff and Rift absorption. Her off-state Burst is a different, damage-focused action.

A repeatable rotation beats a combo you cannot finish.

Understand her two Burst modes first

Skirk uses Serpent’s Subtlety rather than ordinary Elemental Energy. Energy Recharge on her equipment does not solve her resource management. Her Skill supplies resource, and absorbing Void Rifts provides more.

Outside her Skill state, the Burst consumes Serpent’s Subtlety to deal direct damage. During her Skill state, the special Burst instead buffs a limited number of Normal Attack hits and can absorb nearby Rifts. Pressing the same button in different states therefore serves different jobs.

This distinction also changes how you assess equipment. Bonuses aimed at Burst damage are not interchangeable with bonuses aimed at her attack window. Do not copy a quickswap sword or artifact recommendation into an on-field setup without checking what damage the rotation actually deals.

A starting loop for on-field play

Begin with support setup: establish off-field Hydro, activate the buffs your chosen team uses and arrange healing where it supports Furina or Finale. The order depends on your actual supports and weapon effects, so there is no single button list that fits every roster.

Tap Skirk’s Skill to enter her attacking state. N5D means five Normal Attacks, then a dash to cancel the ending. After the first five attacks, use the Skill-state Burst while nearby Void Rifts are available. Continue the attack strings, then weave in a Skill-state Charged Attack when later Rifts appear, before Serpent’s Subtlety runs out, to absorb them and sustain the state.

Prydwen’s easy on-field example is E N5Q N5D N5D N2C N5: E is tap Skill, Q is the Skill-state Burst, D is a dash, and N2C is two Normal Attacks followed by a Charged Attack. The Charged Attack comes later to absorb new Rifts; do not spend the initial Rifts just before Q. This is a source example to learn from, not a highest-damage claim. Your support setup, frame rate and execution can change the timing.

Practice finishing the same sequence before swapping to a faster combo. On mobile, an ambitious sequence may lose hits to input timing or latency. Record what you actually completed rather than comparing your result with a simulation that assumes every cancel succeeded.

Run a comparison that answers your question

Use the same enemy and difficulty, the same team and the same buffs when comparing two setups. Record weapon refinement, constellation, talent levels and which rotation you completed. Keep healing and shields comparable when they affect passives.

Look at more than an isolated critical hit. Support setup, downtime and repeated rotations change team damage. A bigger single number can accompany a worse total rotation. Player showcase numbers also depend on their equipment, enemy resistance, buffs and input execution.

A recent high-investment player asked why their damage remained low despite owning Skirk and Escoffier. Their description pointed to unfamiliarity with the rotation. That is a reason to inspect the sequence before assuming that more wishes are the solution. No damage figure in a community post is a promised result for your account.

Common questions

Why is my Skirk damage low despite a strong weapon and constellations?

Check party conditions, talent levels, effective CRIT Rate, weapon activation and completed attack strings first. Equipment investment cannot compensate for every lost buff or interrupted rotation.

Question or mechanics reference: Player question: why is my Skirk damage low?
Should I add Energy Recharge to make her Burst work?

No. Skirk’s Burst uses Serpent’s Subtlety rather than normal Energy. Focus on her Skill and Rift mechanics; her teammates may still need Energy Recharge for their own abilities.
